This workshop is aimed at beginners to the world of digital photography and is suitable for those with both point-and-shoot and SLR-type digital cameras.
The day will begin with a brief "introduction" in the classroom, teaching basic camera menu settings to optimize your camera's file capabilities. Please be sure to bring your instruction book as there is a plethora of digital cameras and I obviously do not know my way around all their menus. I will also explain some of the more common photographic terminology, translating it into comprehensible English!
The majority of the day will be spent in the field learning basic photography technique, including:
- Holding the camera correctly and use of support aids (tripod, monopod, etc.)
- Obtaining correct exposure and understanding a histogram
- Choosing the correct aperture and shutter speed
- Composition
- Choosing the correct focal length of lens (or zoom settings)
- Use of flash ... and much more
I will answer individual questions and provide assistance to those who are experiencing specific problems with their photography throughout the day.
At the end of the photography session we will return to the classroom and download each student's images to critique. This is likely the most important part of the day as you can learn much more by looking at your own images, and the work of others.
Each workshop is limited to a maximum of 6 participants so everyone will receive substantial personal attention.
Workshop price: $175 (CAD) per person
