Not a direct photography related post but many photographers use Apple computers. Apple has announed that it’s latest OS will be available on August 28th, severalweeks ahead of schedule.
As far as I can see there is nothing terribly exciting for photographers in the new OS other than the fact that it runs faster, is 64bit compliant, and uses less hard drive space, freeing up around 7 GB for some additional photo storage. Perhaps the biggest asset will be the promised speed hike for most operations which will be increasingly useful as image file sizes continue to expand.
Hopefully we will soon see an updated version of Aperture to take advantage of some of the new features, particularly 64 bit processing.
