Nikon has today announced the launch of the D3s. The new version of the top of the line D3 boasts a Movie mode with HD quality (1280 x 720) pixel at 24 fps
The roving freelance can now shoot both stills and news clips with the same camera and have access to the full range of Nikkor lenses for both.
Users of the D3 like myself have been able to push the bounds of our photography by utilizing the amazing high ISO settings with minimum noise and artifacts and a brand new sensor in the D3s has pushed these capabilities even more. It now boasts a standard ISO range of 200 – 12,600 ISO and an extended range of 100 – 102,400 (Yep 102,400 not a typo).
The D3s has a couple of new or changed features of great interest to news, sports and wildlife photographers. A 1.2x crop mode will give a little more reach with those long lenses whilst keeping an image size of a more than reasonable 8.41 megapixels.
Shooting burst numbers have been approximately doubled a standard D3 with 36 14 bit NEFs or 82 large JPEGS before the buffer is full.
D3s will be shipping around late November at an expected price of $5199.95 US
