Digital Workflow
The digital age has heralded a period where people are shooting more and more images and looking for the highest quality output that their cameras are capable of. This has led to a confusion of methods of converting RAW camera files and catolging of images has become a necessary chore to enable you to make sense of the clutter of images on your storage media.
On this one-day workshop I will teach you the methods that I have developed since 2000 to ensure an efficient workflow for my photograpy and a sensible method of cataloging the many thousands of images I take each year. You will learn methods using the following software programs:
- Photomechanic to sort, re-number, delete rejects, caption and keyword your photographs
- Process RAW files using Photoshop, Apple Aperture, and Adobe Lightroom
- Catalogue your images for future retrieval and submission to photo agencies, and clients using Aperture, Lightroom, Portfolio and Microsoft Expression Media
All the above programs are available for both Windows and Macintosh based users with the exception of Apple Aperture which is a Macintosh only product but has many similar features and functions to Adobe Lightroom.
I will also demonstrate the actual workflow that my own images go through
These workshops all take place in our fully equipped digital photo classroom on Gabriola Island, a 20-minute ferry ride from Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. I can pick students up at the ferry if you prefer to cross as a foot passenger. We can also offer overnight b&b accommodation for those travelling from farther afield on a first come first served basis. Please call 250 247 9109 for details and availability. Workshops commence at 9.00 am and finish around 5.00 pm. Beverages are provided, but please bring a packed lunch.
Workshop price: $175 (CAD) per person
